A walk through the Old Town with stops in the seven most famous Prague Cafés. We start in Café Montmartre in Řetězová Street. In this house, famous Czech writers used to meet (Jaroslav Hašek, Eduard Bass, Max Brod, Franz Kafka, “the furious reporter” Egon Erwin Kisch, the poets Karel Toman or František Gellner) and the cabaret Červená Sedma featured here. We will continue to Ovocný trh, where the House of the Black Madonna stands and inside we will find the cubist-style Grand Café Orient. Through the elegant art-nouveau café of the Municipal House we will come to Na Poříčí Street. Here we will visit the Café Imperial with its impressive art deco mosaics and the atmosphere of the end of the Habsburg monarchy. The café Arco, is to be found nearby, the place where Jewish elite headed by Franz Kafka used to go in the early 20th century. At the end of our tour we will visit two cafés that cannot be missed – the French Café Louvre and the café Slavia in the admirable Viennese style.
This is a walk through the typical and famous Prague pubs and breweries. We will set out for the streets of the Old Town to visit the pub U Zlatého tygra (The Golden Tiger Pub), in Husova Street, where Bohumil Hrabal used to go just like Václav Havel in the company of Bill Clinton. Another Prague classic is the nearby U Medvídků (the Little Bears Pub) on Perštýn. Through the U Pikasů restaurant on Můstek (the first Pilsner restaurant in Prague) we will come to the New Town to visit a number of breweries – the New Town Brewery in Vodičkova Street, the Brewery House in Ječná Street and finally even the famous U Fleků brewery in Křemencova Street.
Prague is full of legends and had always attracted many scholars and artists, but also eccentric and uncommon people. During this tour, you will meet the most widely known – the legend of Golem, Rosicrucians, alchemists. You will hear the still catching legends and ghost stories of old Prague.
